Travel Advice & Information

Time Difference

Madagascar is two hours ahead of the GMT, following Eastern Africa Time (EAT) all year round. Daylight Saving Time is no longer in use so the clocks don't change throughout the year.

Money

The local currency in Madagascar is the Malagasy Ariary, with the Euro being the most widely accepted foreign currency. However, both US dollars and GBP are readily exchangeable. Money exchange services are available at banks, and local ATMs provide a convenient option for withdrawals. Banks operate from 8am to 4pm on weekdays, but remain closed on the day before public holidays and weekends.

Electricity

Madagascar works on a 220V supply voltage and uses plug types C and E. Plug type C features two round pins, while plug type E includes two round pins along with a socket for the male earthing pin. Although a voltage converter isn't necessary, a travel adapter is essential for your devices.
