The Southern Cross Club offers access to the stunning diving of the Cayman Islands and a laid-back Caribbean atmosphere sets this resort apart from its brash neighbours on Grand Cayman.
The casually sophisticated Southern Cross Club, Fish & Dive Resort is Little Cayman's original resort, offering a top-rated, professional in-house diving and fishing operation. Situated on the Little Cayman Island, this resort features just 14 spacious ocean-view beachfront bungalows making it an intimate "barefoot luxury" resort.
The bungalows are situated along the white coral-sand beach, facing South Hole Sound and the uninhabited Owen Island, both providing not only unforgettable ocean views but also a cooling southern breeze from the summer trade winds. All bungalows are equipped with private baths, outside decks and air-conditioning. Some bungalows have a king bed, others two queens. Many have an additional day bed overlooking South Hole Sound. About half of the bungalows feature private outdoor showers.
Set in the middle of the row of bungalows is the Southern Cross Club's main buildings. The clubhouse features the main dining room, open air dining pavilion, the main bar and thatched Tiki bar around the freshwater pool. In keeping with the laid back feel of the Club, the bar operates on an honour system during the day, and in the afternoons, an in-house bartender is always on hand to shake-up a variety of colourful tropical drinks.
Five days of the week dinner is served à la carte , where you can choose to eat in the air-conditioned dining room, the screened dining pavilion or outside under a billion stars - either on the pool deck or on the beach. Wednesday nights feature an Indian banquet "Mirch Masala" and Friday nights are Italian "made to order" pasta nights.
Apart from the diving, the main activity on offer here is fishing, and Southern Cross Club has the only full-service fishing facility on Little Cayman. Due to the minimal development along the shores here, the fishing is diverse and exciting and access to bonefishing is just minutes from the resort. Southern Cross Club has a full range of rental equipment for fly-fishing and spin casting, and the professional guides will help you every step of the way to catch a diverse range of fish, such as wahoo, tuna and marlin.
Southern Cross Club's dedicated dive operation provides an ideal opportunity to explore the best Little Cayman has to offer. The dive programme is designed to suit both the experienced diver and the novice too and you will be very well looked after on either of their two custom dive boats. Guided dives at the Southern Cross visit all the extraordinary sights of Little Cayman, including the famous Bloody Bay Marine Park and MS Keith Tibbets.
With a resident population of less than 170 people, you don't go to Little Cayman for the nightlife. What you do come for is the diving and fishing. Both are incredible.
