Located on the calm, undeveloped east coast of Bali, set right on the beach and boasting more than 350m of house reef, Siddhartha Ocean Front Resort and Spa offers a peaceful getaway with plenty of luxury for your Bali diving holiday.
This village-style resort consists of traditional thatched bungalows and villas dotted around a tropical garden. Bungalows are ideal for couples, with large beds and spacious terraces; whereas bigger groups and families, or even couples looking for a more secluded stay, may prefer the villas, which have their own kitchen, dining area and a private pool.
There is a dive centre located within the grounds of Siddhartha Ocean Front Resort and Spa, a mere 50m from the shore. The house reef has six entry points which lead down to an underwater utopia with ranging slope gradients. Wading further from the land, you'll explore healthy coral blocks and gardens, with curious moray eels, barracudas, sting rays, nudibranchs and more. Night dives are particularly fascinating here, as the entire reef glitters and glows with the reflective eyes of a variety of shrimp and many lobsters who return after sunset. Those interested in wreck diving, the Boga wreck - which sunk in 2012 - is not far from the house reef and is increasingly colonised by a variety of residents.
Siddhartha is an excellent resort to base yourself if you're looking to learn to dive or expand your current skills and knowledge; the onsite dive centre offers a range of fully certified courses. For experienced divers, and those wishing to explore further than the house reef, there is a dive boat and several minibuses which can take guests to other sites around the east coast of Bali, such as the Liberty wreck, Tulamben drop off, and even Seraya, known for its muck diving.
For days spent above the water, there's plenty to do at Siddhartha Ocean Front Resort and Spa and the surrounding area of Bali. Take part in the daily yoga classes or, for a spot of pampering, head to the onsite spa - The Six Elements - which is the ideal place to immerse yourself for a day of relaxation; choose from a range of massages, scrubs and wraps to suit you. For a more energised land-based day, the resort can assist with planning and organising trips to surrounding villages, temples, waterfalls and more. A top choice is the Mount Batur sunrise trek where you hike two-hours in the dark to be rewarded with a spectacular sunrise view from the volcanoes summit.
Nestled on the north eastern shores of Bali, Siddhartha's secluded location feels akin to visiting the Bali of yesteryear. Not to mention an excellent house reef just off the shore while some of Bali's most coveted dive spots - including the Liberty wreck - are a short boat ride away.
