Located at one end of Alona beach, the Amorita Resort is just a stone’s throw away from all the action, but its cliff-top position means it is far away enough to maintain a secluded, quiet and relaxing atmosphere.
Alona beach is a stretch of white powdery sand on the southern coast of Panglao Island, just south of Bohol. What was once a virtually deserted beach is now booming with hotels and bars. Unless you are willing to be completely enveloped by this, we would not recommend staying on the beach itself, however we have found a way that you can dip in and out of all the fun and action whilst still enjoying a relaxing holiday: Amorita Resort.
Positioned on top of the cliff at the far end of Alona beach, the Amorita Resort enjoys the most splendid views both out to the ocean and over the beach. The sun loungers and infinity pool make the most of these fantastic views, perhaps with a cocktail in hand, as the sun goes down! Adjacent to the infinity pool, the Saffron restaurant and bar also experiences these marvellous views. Filipino and continental cuisine can be enjoyed here, plus once or twice a week the restaurant moves out into the garden where the chef produces a delicious BBQ under the stars.
The spacious grounds in the Amorita Resort mean that even when full the resort does not feel crowded (unlike the beach below!). There are three categories of rooms: Deluxe rooms, Garden villas and Ocean villas. The Garden and Ocean villas have exactly the same set up with a large bedroom and bathroom complete with a plunge pool and sunloungers for relaxing in complete privacy. The Ocean villas enjoy the amazing views out to sea, so these rooms win hands down for us.
Off to the side of the resort's main building, the dive centre and diving pool make for a great place to learn to dive, as well as continuing with fun diving at Bohol's world famous dive sites. Other watersports include dolphin watching in the early morning and snorkelling tours. Amorita can also organise tours of Bohol to see the tarsiers, 'chocolate hills' and a calming cruise up the river Loboc.
Watch the sun go down over Alona beach from the Amorita Resort's stunning cliff top location.
