When To Travel
All of the holidays we create are completely tailor-made to you
Day 1: International Flight
Your diving adventure begins with an overnight flight to Denpasar, Bali. With a brief layover in Singapore, the journey should take approximately 18 hours.
Day 2: Arrive in Bali
Upon arrival in Denpasar, you'll be met by one of our representatives and ushered through immigration to collect your visa and then your bags. You will then be assisted through customs and outside to where your driver will be waiting. A quick 20-minute drive will take you to your hotel for the night. Rest up, as tomorrow the real adventure begins with your final journey to Alor.
Day 3: Onwards to Alor
After a leisurely morning, you'll be picked up and transferred back to Denpasar Airport to catch your flight to Alor, transiting through Kupang. Once you land, a representative from Alami Alor will be waiting to help you with your luggage and drive you the final 50 minutes to the resort. Once there, you'll be checked into your waterfront bungalow framed by a lush garden. Take your time to rest and refresh before heading to the beach for a sundowner while the warm sea breeze welcomes you to paradise.
Days 4-11: Diving Near, ‘Far’ and Everywhere in Between
Spend the next seven days underwater with unlimited diving on the house reef (available morning, noon and night). Further out, you'll have a plethora of dive options - from silty muck bottoms (the playground of macro oddities) and vibrant coral gardens bursting with fish life, to exhilarating drifts and encounters with sea snakes and hammerheads in the deep blue. Sightings can range from waves of schooling sharks to intricate nighttime ballets of mating mandarinfish, proving you never know what might swim by. Our best advice is to spend as much time underwater as possible. Even the elusive mola mola is known to make an occasional appearance, so keep the fins handy and the mask defogged!
In between dives, you can simply relax beachside with a cocktail (or mocktail) in hand and watch the world go by.
Day 12: Private Traditional Fishing Dive with Bubu Fishermen
Today you will get to see something hardly practiced anywhere else in the world. A Bubu is essentially a fish trap, hand-woven from the lightweight and flexible material of the rattan plant. Relying on finless feet and hand-carved wooden goggles, Bubu fishermen effortlessly place their traps on the reef in specific locations inherited from former generations. You will be briefed ahead of time to understand what you'll see underwater and then you'll gear up and make your descent with your local Bubu fisherman to observe their skills in action. A charged camera is a necessity for this special dive! This extraordinary excursion is highly unique and you'll be hard-pressed to witness something similar ever again.
Days 13 - 14: Homeward Bound
Sadly the time has come to return home. The first leg of your journey will take you back to Bali, again via Kupang. After arrival in Denpasar, our local representative will transfer you to your nearby hotel. Enjoy a final night in Indonesia, perhaps do a little shopping and enjoy the delicious cafes within walking distance. After spending the night, you'll be collected from your hotel and returned to the Denpasar Airport to board your flight back to London, again with a short stopover in Singapore on the way. Settle in with a drink and a good book for the journey home, and start plotting your next trip to this amazing part of the planet.
