When To Travel
All of the holidays we create are completely tailor-made to you
Day 1: International Flight
There are several flights that fly to Manila from London Heathrow overnight, flying via either Hong Kong or Abu Dhabi. The flight will take around 17 hours, more than enough time to get your 40 winks.
Day 2: Domestic Flight to Bohol
Once you have landed in Manila it's just a hop-skip-and-a-jump to Bohol.
After you have passed through customs you will be transferred to the domestic airport for your hour-and-a-half flight to Tagbilaran on Bohol island. Upon landing you will be met by your driver and privately chauffeured to your hotel, taking around an hour and a half. Keep your eyes glued to the window as you pass through the lush green Filipino countryside.
Days 3-7: Eat, Sleep, Dive, Repeat
There is fantastic diving in the crystal clear waters surrounding Bohol island, which you will spend the next few days becoming well acquainted with.
As Bohol is located in the centre of the coral triangle, the biodiversity is truly mind boggling. Across the 40 surrounding dive sites expect to see over 2,000 species of fish, six species of turtle and plenty of coral varieties creating an impressive underwater vista. While it's tempting to seek out the big fish, keep your eyes peeled for the small critters as Bohol is particularly well known for its macro life, such as seahorses, nudibranchs, octopus and mandarin fish.
Day 8: Exploring Bohol’s Beautiful Countryside
This morning you will visit the town of Loboc and cruise down the serene Loboc river enjoying a delicious lunch onboard a floating restaurant.
After lunch you will go on a tour to see the scenic countryside of Bohol island, visiting the famous chocolate hills. Legend dictates that these unusual hills were formed when two giants fought, throwing stones at each other, and today you can ogle at them while taking a guided ATV ride. The ride will take you through the trails in and around the hills to discover rice terraces, the Three Sisters Hill and the Eight Sisters Hills, followed by a climb to the peak of one of the highest hills to take in amazing panoramas of the bulbous landscape.
On the way back to the resort you will stop off at a Tarsier reserve to see these adorable endangered mammals up close.
Day 9: On to Palau
Today you will leave this paradise in Bohol and head on to the next: Palau.
This will involve a domestic flight back to Manila, followed by a direct flight to Koror in Palau which takes around three hours. When you arrive in Palau you will be transferred to your resort, which will take around 20 minutes. Once you have settled into your room, spend the rest of the day exploring your local surroundings, whether hiking into the forest to spot the colourful endemic Palau Fruit Dove, or snorkelling from the shores of the private beach.
Days 10-15: Into The Blue In Palau
Spend the next few days discovering Palau's incredible underwater world.
The diving in Palau is truly world class and incredibly varied, with Second World War wrecks, beautiful coral reefs topped with colourful tropical fish and amazing macro life. Not to forget the big fish action, with several species of shark stalking whirlpools of barracuda, king mackerel, tuna, giant and blue fin trevally, all out in the blue.
You will have a chance to explore some of the best dive sites in the world, including Blue Corner, one of the most action-packed dives out there with up to 13 species of shark circling beyond a dramatic coral-encrusted reef wall. Due to the currents you'll need a reef hook. The German Channel is also well worth an explore for its marvellous manta action.
Additional Activities
- Visit to the eerie jellyfish lake
- Discover plane wrecks on land - it's all very Lost (the tv programme, not the wrecks)
Day 16: Kayaking the Rock Islands
While Palau is undoubtably amazing underwater, it is also beautiful above water.
The topography of Koror Island and other nearby islands is quite simply stunning, which today you will explore by kayak. Led by an enthusiastic naturalist you will learn about the tropical flora and fauna as you paddle through mangroves, marine lakes and the maze of the rock islands. You can also hike to the top of some of the islands to see the beauty of the scenery below.
Additional Activities
- Take a helicopter tour above the island for a jaw-dropping birds-eye view of Koror Island
Day 17 : Journey Back to Manila
Sadly your adventure has come to an end. After a leisurely morning you will be privately transferred to the airport for your flight to Manila, where you will spend one night before your flight home tomorrow.
