When To Travel
All of the holidays we create are completely tailor-made to you
Day 1: The Adventure Begins
Get your bags, camera and holiday read ready as the adventure begins today. Make your way to the airport, speed through security and grab any final snacks before your 11-hour flight to Los Angeles. Once you've arrived in LA, you'll have a short layover before catching your connecting flight to Papeete. The flight takes just under nine hours and arrives the following day, so be sure to catch some zzz's or binge-watch that new TV show.
Day 2: Welcome to Huahine
As you touch down at Huahine airport, a local representative will be ready to whisk you away for a 25-minute car journey to your charming hotel on the tropical island's southwest tip. Get settled into your lagoon or beach-facing coconut wood bungalow and take in the panoramic views of clear blue waters on one side and lush jungle on the other. Take a deep breath in and relax, you've officially arrived in paradise.
Day 3: Cycle around Huahine
Wake up to views of the coral lagoon outside of your window then head to the restaurant for a breakfast of fresh fruits and cooked dishes before setting out for a bike exploration. Get lost in the lush vegetation, admire the wildlife and stop to snap shots of the pristine nature.
Days 4 & 5: Days at leisure on Huahine
How you choose to spend these two days is up to you. We recommend setting out to experience the culture of the island. Huahine has the largest congregation of marae (temples) in the region, with some dating back as far as 700 AD, and on a tour with a local guide, you can hear stories about the original ancestors of the Tahitians: the Lapita people. After a tour of the temples, fill your belly at Mama's Beach House - one of our favourite local eateries.
Once you've had your fill of culture, dive into the water to explore the coral-filled lagoons, either with a mask and snorkel or kit up with a tank to watch batfish and mantra rays dance in the current while grey sharks glide by.
Day 6: Onwards to Raiatea
Sadly, it's time to leave the shaggy mountains and coral-filled lagoons of Huahine behind, but fear not, you're heading to another paradise. After a slow breakfast, return to the airport for a 20-minute flight to Raiatea. Upon arrival, you'll be driven five minutes to your next sanctuary on the sacred island's west coast.
Day 7- 10: Hike and dive
Wake up engulfed in nature with the sound of bird song and the gentle rays of morning sun poking through your coconut blinds. With a lush tropical park to explore and only a ten-minute drive from downtown Uturoa, you have an array of options when it comes to how to spend your days. For the hikers and botanical enthusiasts, head to the Tapioi and Temehani mountains. Or if it's marine adventures you're after, explore the waters in a kayak or tank up to swim with sharks.
Day 11: Onward to Taha’a
You're on the move again, heading to Taha'a via a short 20-minute flight. On arrival at Taha'a, you'll be transferred 35 minutes by boat to its sister island, located on the secluded Motu Tautau isle. Settle into your overwater bungalow, which has been crafted in the traditional style using woven coconut ropes, bamboo and thatched pandanus roofs, and take in the glorious views, with Taha'a on one side and Bora Bora on the other.
Day 12: Romantic lunch on a motu
Today, you'll enjoy a private romantic lunch on a motu (sand island). Hop into a canoe from the hotel's beach for a short journey to the islet where you'll experience a Tahitian demonstration of picking coconuts and food tasting. Afterwards, go to a private motu for lunch and enjoy a delicious meal with seafood, meat dishes and tasty tropical fruits.
Day 13: Taha’a Lagoon Boat Ride
Wake up slowly and let your feet dangle into the clear waters as you enjoy breakfast on your private patio. On today's agenda is a seven-hour boat ride around the lagoon complete with a tour of a pearl farm and vanilla plantation where you can meet the farmers who are keeping the culture alive. When the warm sun requires you to cool down, slip into the waters with your mask and snorkel to explore the unspoilt coral gardens around the motu.
Day 14: Day at leisure
How will you choose to spend your final day on this private islet? Perhaps a day in the spa trying some of the many traditional treatments? Splitting up each of your three meals across the three different restaurants? Will you scuba dive and immerse yourself in the silent, pristine beauty of these clear waters teeming with life? When the day is done, watch the sky turn from blue to orange to midnight black while you sip on cocktails overlooking the shimmering lagoon.
Day 15: Back to Papeete
Go for a final swim and munch on fresh food before you're taken by boat back to the airport for your flight from Raiatea to Papeete. On arrival, you'll be taken to your hotel for one final night in French Polynesia. Nab a chair by the infinity pool to soak in the final rays and finish up your holiday read before enjoying a final Polynesian meal.
Days 16 & 17: Homeward bound
All too quickly, the adventure has come to an end. You'll be taken back to the airport for your flight from Papeete to LA before your connecting flight home.
