Kokomo Private Island is a Fijian island resort located on the edge of the celestial Kadavu Island Group and surrounded by the world’s fourth largest barrier reef, Astrolabe Reef.
Privacy is paramount at the resort and as such the 21 Beachfront Villas and five hilltop Residences are nestled amidst swaying palms and have been designed to provide an exclusive escape. Depending on group size and preferences, guests can choose from stunning ocean views in the elevated and open-plan Residences or direct beach access in the Beachfront Villas. The décor throughout is contemporary and stylish but also uses natural stone and timber features as a nod to sustainable and authentic design. Each room also features an outdoor shower, a private tropical garden or decking area, and its own swimming pool.
Utilising fresh and locally sourced produce, largely from the island's own farm, the chefs at Kokomo Private Island offer a range of gourmet cuisine at their three restaurants. Beach Shack offers casual all day dining and is the ideal sunset spot, Walker D'Plank is uniquely situated in a small cove accessed by a 'plank' and serves typical Asian street food dishes, and Pool Cabana offers wood fired pizzas, cheese and charcuterie. For celebrations or romantic evenings, private 'destination dining' in various locations around the island can also be easily arranged.
Facilities include a resort pool, tennis court, numerous water sports, walking trails, a gym and a kids club. And for those seeking wellness and rejuvenation, seek no further as the Yaukuve Spa offers a range of blissful treatments from deep massages to refreshing scrubs.
Without doubt one of the major attractions of the resort, for non-divers as much as divers, the underwater world surrounding Kokomo Island is utterly beautiful and totally fascinating. With a PADI certified dive centre and water sports facility on hand the resort staff are extremely passionate about diving and can provide equipment and lessons for a range of abilities. As many as 49 unique dive sites sit close to the island and you should expect to be diving amongst colourful reef, gliding mantas, intrigued turtles and peaceful whales. For those who prefer to stay on the surface, the snorkelling here is also great and can be done just metres from shore, or on a dedicated excursion.
The resort's white sand beach and turquoise waters are pure paradise. This is where you go to escape. This is where you post that all enviable holiday snap (before quickly ditching your phone and returning to paradise).
