When To Travel
All of the holidays we create are completely tailor-made to you
Day 1: International Flight to Nassau
Your Bahamas getaway begins today with a direct flight to Nassau. Due to the time difference, your ten-hour flight will allow you to arrive the same day, ready to hit the ground running.
On arrival in Nassau, you'll be met and transferred to your boutique hotel just a short drive away from the airport. Check in and get refreshed before heading out to explore this vibrant island for the evening. Make sure to get some rest though, tomorrow your diving adventure really begins!
Day 2: Flight to Andros
After a leisurely morning by the pool, you'll be transferred back to the airport for your short flight to the island of Andros. The journey should take approximately 20 minutes and you will be met upon landing and transferred to your island accommodation for the next week. Settle into your palm tree lined beach retreat before heading to the dive centre on the property to discuss your dives for the following days.
Days 3-7: Diving and Days at Leisure
With access to over 175 miles of vibrant reefs, underwater caves and pillowy white sand beaches, days here are meant to be on and under the water. You'll have access to over 60 dive sites, many of which lie within a 15-minute boat ride from the dock, so, like everything else in the Bahamas, it's laid-back and completely lovely. You'll have two dives each morning, which can vary between reef drifts surrounded by abundant life, shark monitoring dives or even a blue hole.
After returning to the resort, you'll be free to relax with a spa treatment, explore the mangrove tunnels by kayak or paddle board. You could even venture a bit further afield and island hop from one stretch of powdery sand to the next.
Day 8: Journey to Bimini
You'll depart early this morning to catch a quick flight back to Nassau, before connecting on to Bimini. Once you've arrived on Bimini, make your way to the ferry dock, where you'll catch a water taxi to your next island oasis. Arriving in the early afternoon, you'll have plenty of time to explore your new home before sitting back with a rumrunner and fresh conch fritters as another cinnamon sunset sinks into the sea.
Days 9: Two Dives Exploring Bimini’s Reefs
Today you'll head out to explore the shallow reefs that make this area one of the most sought after dive spots in the world. Gin-clear water welcomes you with bright, thriving corals supporting all manner of reef fish, eagle rays, eels, turtles and even the occasional pod of dolphins swimming past.
Day 10 and 11: Great Hammerhead Safari
Today's the day you've likely been looking most forward to. There are few places in the world where you can reliably dive and interact with great hammerhead sharks, and none with such ideal conditions as Bimini. Every year, between November and April, these behemoths migrate to the shallow waters of this area because of its prime positioning next to the deep water Gulf Stream flowing into the Atlantic. The winter months will be a bit chilly, so pack your 5mm wetsuit and hood to optimize your bottom time, you're going to want to stay underwater as long as possible.
Your day will begin with a thorough briefing before heading out to Hammer Headquarters. Once anchored at the site, you'll set up for the dive and the crew will begin baiting the water to attract the sharks. Once a hammerhead shows up and it settles in, you'll enter the water with your guide and descend to the sandy bottom. The site is less than ten metres deep, so your tank will last quite a while before needing to ascend for a break and a bite to eat. At your leisure, you can re-enter the water for more hammerhead action. You'll call it a day when you're either out of tanks or sunlight, whichever comes first. So dive dive dive to your heart's content, to make the most of your time with these extraordinary creatures.
Day 12: Adventure Swim with Dolphins
This afternoon, you'll head out for another special creature encounter that's only reliable in a few places in the world. Several pods of dolphins cruise the area year-round, and as soon as they show up, you'll don your snorkel gear and slide into the water to swim alongside as they play all around you. Dolphins are incredibly curious marine mammals and will be especially intrigued if you try to get their attention by twirling, diving and mimicking their sounds. They may come in for a closer look, responding in their own way, allowing you to connect with a wild animal in their own habitat on their terms. Just as it should be.
Days 13-14: Journey Home
All-too-quickly your island days have come to an end and it's time to head home. Rest-assured, you'll return home having checked a couple of major items off your bucket-list and with a Bahamian tan to help you remember your island hopping, shark diving adventures.
You'll take a short flight back to Nassau before connecting on to your evening international flight home. You'll fly through the night, so relax and catch some zzz's, arriving back in the UK the following morning.
