The resort concept is contemporary yet intimate with only 45 private villas. Overwater villas form the island's 'turtle-head' and feature a private pool, expansive deck and steps leading into the alluring lagoon. Beach villas feature high rise ceilings in mahogany shades, with wall to wall glass windows framing the terrace and private plunge pool. All villas come with a private butler for guests' every whim. For the upmost privacy, there's a romantic pool residence only accessible by boat.

For dining, Athiri serves fresh specialities and wood-fired pizzas in a heavenly beach-front setting. Teppanyaki kitchen Tavaru is located in the island's focal point - an extraordinary three storey wine tower housing over 6,000 wines. For gourmet dining at its finest, overwater restaurant Aragu serves up Modern European Cuisine against gentle ocean breezes. The Ari Pool bar turns into a swanky cocktail bar by night whilst Aragu houses a vintage champagne lounge.

Dive sites are only 15 minutes from the resort's shores, and guests can expect to see a plethora of marine life, from reef sharks to manta rays. For watersports, Velaa houses all the most high tech toys, from a Seabob (an underwater James Bond-esque scooter) to sumptuous catamarans for day trips. Guests can also play golf with the gold academy, which designed by two-time Masters Champion José María Olazábal, which features nine different tees. Adults can relax after a day of activities in the Maldives' only Clarins Spa, with its snow room and relaxation pods, whilst children explore in the kids club.
